국문초록

우선 이 책의 저자인 폴 해리슨(Paul Harrison)을 소개하자면, 호주국립대학에서 너무나 저명한 드 용(De Jong) 교수 밑에서 박사학위(Ph. D)를 마쳤으며, 뉴질랜드의 칸타베리 대학(Univ. of Canterbury)의 교수직을 거쳐 현재는 스탠포드 대학(Stanford Univ.)에 있는 HCBSS(Ho Center for Buddhist Studies)의 공동책임자(co- director)이자 교수(George Edwin Burnell Professor)를 역임하고 있다.
